Burlingame State Park, 9/12-14/2003

Seven of us went to Burlingame State Park in Rhode Island. Friday night was clear and we enjoyed great views of the full moon and Mars through binoculars. The next morning we pushed together two picnic tables and put up our tarp over them, but the weather defied the predictions and it hardly rained.

The highlights of the trip were getting knocked around by the waves at the beach (about a mile from the campsite) and going on a night hike in the woods and turning off our flashlights.

The mosquitoes were a problem from the mid-afternoon to dusk. Once it got dark, the bugs left us alone. Yellow jackets were also very active at the campsite; they wanted to sample all of our food except for the very spicy soup that I prepared for dinner on Saturday.

We had sites 435 and 437.
