Breakneck Ridge Hike, 4/10/2004

Eleven of us hiked on Breakneck Ridge by the Hudson River near Cold Spring NY. The first part of the hike was a climb that included rock scrambling. It was the hardest part of the hike, but it also gave us the best views of the Hudson River. We had lunch at the top of Breakneck Ridge and then the group split up with some of us taking a cutoff back to the parking area. The remaining hikers ventured on and then split up once again. I was part of a group of three that went on to Sunset Point, while the others headed back. It was well before sunset when we reached Sunset Point, and the views were OK but not as good as from Breakneck Ridge. Then we went back and actually met the second group we split off from in the parking area by the river.
